Are you feeling anxious or depressed? Not reaching your full potential? Are you struggling in a relationship?
Hi, I'm Dr. Neil Bockian, Founder and President of Behavioral Health Associates. As a professor of clinical psychology since 1995, I am familiar with a wide array of ideas in clinical psychology. I have integrated the best of these methods into a comprehensive approach. Based on the ideas of Personalized Psychotherapy, and utilizing the biopsychochosocial model, we fit the psychotherapy to your unique and individual needs. We get to know you as a person. The rest follows.
The Biopsychosocial model means that every strength and every problem you have has a biological piece, a psychological piece (such as your experiences with your family and your peers), and a social piece (that is, the influence of your culture). We employ a wide array of techniques in order to help. For the biological aspect, we have expertise in Biofeedback, including temperature training, respiration training, galvanic skin response, and heart rate variability training. We employ neurofeedback, including Quantitative Electroencephalogram (QEEG) Peak Performance Training, and interventions for disorders such as Attention Deficit Disorder, Anxiety Disorders (including Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder), Autism, Traumatic Brain Injury, and other disorders. We also consult with psychiatrists, physicians, physical therapists, and nutritionists as needed. For the psychological component, we have expertise in psychoherapy, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Personality-Guided Therapy, and Schema Therapy. My background in personality disorders has been very helpful to clients, especially in understanding the impact of another person's personality on them (for example, if you are the spouse of a person with borderline personality disorer, or the child of a person with narcissistic personality disorder). As for the social component, we are sensitive to the needs of people from cultures throughout the world; in addition, we look at the impact of current American culture on all of us (such as the impact of the media on our body image, or the trend in American culture towards working too many hours).
Behavioral Health Associates has high-quality neuropsychological evaluations. We we were selected to evaluate retired NFL football players for injuries that they sustained during their playing years.
