Are you stressed, anxious, confused, down or stuck in some area of you life? If so, I am eager to help you from my office in Santa Monica, California, where I've been in private practice since 1985. I work with people in need of deep change, right through to the very core. Whether you've had a lot of previous therapy or none at all, I specialize in helping people get unstuck to move on with a greater sense of satisfaction and fulfillment.

I use the therapeutic relationship as the vessel for change, drawing upon many kinds of training, always using a variety of tools. I do whatever it takes to get the job done. I'm not satisfied getting paid without getting results. I don't use canned approaches or a one-style-fits-all approach. Instead I tailor what I do to your specific needs, situations, concerns and problems. I want to make sure you get what you need, even if this occasionally means helping you find another person to work with, if I'm not the right fit.

I have a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from UCLA. I work with adults ranging in age from early 20s to late 60s. Many come from a wide range of cultural, racial and economic backgrounds. I also work with couples. Many people I see are professionals, such as lawyers, doctors or other therapists. Some have tried psychotherapy before with little success. I have also had a yoga practice for 30 years and love to work at the edge of mind, body and spirit.

I work outside of the insurance companies to ensure privacy and the full freedom for us to figure out our own terms of treatment. I work on a sliding scale, ranging between $195 and $150. I provide billing statements if you need them to get reimbursed from your insurance policy. I teach affective neurobiology at the Santa Barbara Graduate Institute, am a Research Associate at the Institute for Fractal Research, and have written two books. My most recent, Psyche's Veil, was published in 2008 by Routledge. Please check out my website at www.markstarlow.com or email me for further information at markstarlow@hotmail.com.
